About This Blog
This blog is dedicated to all things First Amendment related, for both lawyers and non-lawyers alike.
We strive to provide succinct, timely, and interesting content about legal cases and current events that involve First Amendment issues such as free speech, the freedom of religion, and the separation of church and state. We also write about ancillary legal issues when they arise in First Amendment cases, such as state action, standing, and qualified immunity. We derive our content primarily from published, precedential court opinions from the U.S. Courts of Appeals and state supreme courts.
To keep us fair and honest, we avoid taking positions on any of the cases, disputes, or issues that we write about. We want to foster the dialogue, not persuade you to think one way or the other.
About the Authors
Brian Apel, the primary author, is a lawyer in Chicago, Illinois.
